Nice to Meet You, Julian.
It's Julian Verner's birthday today so we thought it was the perfect opportunity to start formally introducing ourselves, starting of course with the ever exciting Mr. Verner.
Julian moved to Atlanta in 2014 and finished up his directing internship at Actor's Express last August, assistant directing Les Liaisons Dangerous, Bad Jews, and Rent.
He received his Directing MFA from Texas State University - San Marcos while serving as the department's Properties Master. During his educational years he had the opporitunity to direct some thrilling theatre, including Water by the Spoonful, Gruesome Playground Injuries, True West, and The
Metamorphosis (The Kafka version, with the giant beatle).
This season alone Julian has worked in the props department of Dad's Garage, The Horizon Theatre, and has even helped out the Alliance a time or two. Staying busy, he recently directed the world premier of The Spins at Out of Box Theatre.
If A. Julian Verner was a mammal he would be one of those otters that gangs up and attacks crocodiles. (For a more thorough education, we recommend viewing the Snoop Dog version of Planet Earth that feature these bad boys.)
Catalyst is lucky to have this cool cat as a founding member. He directed our inaugural production, The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, and serves as our outreach spark.
Happy Birthday Julian!
